When was the last time you Opened your Mind?

There are a lot of us that know exactly what we think and there is no way to change our mind. That's ok, I'm not going to try to convince anyone to change their ideas about anything. But, the question that I have is when is the last time that you listened to or watched or read something that was the direct opposite of something that you believe?

Take, for example, politics. If you are true to yourself, do you know right now which Presidential candidate you will vote for? If you do, why? Have you taken time to listen to anyone with an opposing view? Are you voting for the same person that you know your friends or family are voting for? Are you voting for someone, just to be different from the crowd? If you have always voted a certain way, can you justify the way that you vote? I believe that it is important to question what you believe. Not to change the way that you believe, but to justify the way that you believe.

If you know that you will vote for a Democrat, visit a Republican's website and watch a speech that they have given or read their platform. If you know that you will vote for a Republican, do the same on a Democrat's website. If you can't stand something, make sure that you know why. If you were asked today, why you're note voting for someone, be sure that your answer is honest and justified.

I believe that there are too many people in this world that act the way that their “crowd” acts and not the way that they would if they truly thought about the situation. My dad would always tell me to make sure that my decisions were my own and never follow anyone into trouble. This can easily relate to politics. Make sure that when you cast your ballot you are voting for the person that you believe in and not voting for them just because everyone you know is voting for them.
